Jennifer Olsson handles the bison hides for her original clothing designs from ranch pick up, to stretching and shearing. “I save bison hides from being discarded and forgotten. The bison’s beautiful coat continues to tell its story as the bison lives on through my designs.” Her company, Montana Bison Fashion & Furs, offers knitwear and yarns made from her custom blends of Montana ranched bison, alpaca, and wool fibers. Bison fur is used as scarves, headbands, and as trim on embroidered dusters, bathrobes, jackets, and capes. Her unique work is often featured in Cowboy’s and Indian’s Magazine. Recently, a collection of her bison trimmed hooded capes, with appliquéd wild birds, was shown at, The Old Main Gallery, Bozeman, Montana, during a gala opening with Swedish photographer, Marlene’ Nilsen.
